International Year 12 applicants must meet English language requirements for admission.

Charles Darwin University

In most circumstances, you can meet English language requirements with:

  • successful completion of an Australian Year 12 program

Offshore applicants can meet English language requirements by presenting an acceptable English language proficiency test result. For courses with a higher requirement, the University will contact applicants with details of the scores required.

Offshore applicants will also need to meet the Department of Home Affairs English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements.

Flinders University

In most circumstances, you can meet English language requirements with:

  • successful completion of an Australian Year 12 program
  • successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma where English is the language of instruction.

Offshore applicants can meet English language requirements with successful completion of an Australian year 12 program taught offshore in any country.

International applicants for Nursing, Social Work, and Education must achieve an IELTS 7.0 or equivalent in an approved English Language test.

The University of Adelaide

All international students studying an Australian Year 12 program must pass English as a Second Language or an English Language subject*. Details of recognised subjects are available from the University of Adelaide website

If you have not passed an English subject, the University may accept an alternative, such as an acceptable English language proficiency (ELP) test result.

Successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma meets the University’s English language requirements.

*Special ELP requirements are required for the Bachelor of Nursing program under the guidelines set by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Please refer to the University of Adelaide website for more information.

University of South Australia

Students studying in Australia, or a country where English is widely spoken, can meet English language requirements for most programs with:

  • successful completion of an Australian Year 12 program
  • successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma

Students studying offshore in countries where English is not widely spoken can meet English language requirements for most programs with:

  • successful completion of SACE Stage 2 English as an Additional Language (EAL) (or equivalent)

They must also achieve:

  • a SACE scaled score of 10 (or equivalent) for programs requiring an overall IELTS of 6.0
  • a SACE scaled score of 12 (or equivalent) for programs requiring an overall IELTS of 6.5
  • a SACE scaled score of 13 (or equivalent) for programs requiring an overall IELTS of 7.0

For all students, entry into programs requiring an overall IELTS of 7.0 requires completion of SACE Stage 2 English as an Additional Language (EAL) with a scaled score of 13 or higher (or an equivalent subject/grade).

International applicants to Nursing and Midwifery programs must pass an approved English test.
