Tertiary entrance in 2012 for students completing the SACE/NTCET in 2011
These pages are a guide for students completing the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or Northern Territory Certificate of Education and
Training (NTCET) in 2011. They provide summary information about the requirements for entry to courses offered by SATAC’s participating universities and by TAFE SA.
This information should be read in conjunction with SATAC's Tertiary Entrance booklet which is distributed to students in years 10, 11 and 12 each year.
The current edition can be downloaded
here.
The links below provide information about the terminology used by SATAC and how SACE/NTCET results will be used to select applicants for university and TAFE SA courses.
One of the features of the SACE/NTCET is that students can have study they have undertaken elsewhere at secondary education level, or VET studies,
or studies towards a university course counted as ‘Recognised Studies’ towards their SACE/NTCET. The Recognised Studies link below explains what can be counted and how
to go about seeking approval for them to be counted.
Your SACE/NTCET results cannot be used directly in the selection process for university or TAFE SA courses. A mathematical process called scaling must first be used to ensure that results obtained in different subjects can be directly compared. The results must also be converted to numerical values to allow a university aggregate to be calculated. The Scaling link provides information about how this process works.
