satac     Document details

Supporting documents should be provided to SATAC within 7 days. Information received after Thursday 15 December 2011 is not guaranteed to be considered in the Main January offer round. Dates for other offer rounds can be found here.

When you have completed the details on your TAFEWeb application you will be given a list of the specific documents which you must supply to support claims about your qualifications. SATAC cannot take them into account if they are not supplied and this may affect your selection score and chances of receiving an offer. Any delay in providing documents may also delay the processing of your application.

All documents sent to SATAC should have your TAFE application reference number written in the top right hand corner.

Resumes, CV's and References
Resumes, CV's and references are not used when assessing your application so please do not provide them.

Original Documents
Only send copies of the required documents to SATAC. Please do not send original documents. These may be difficult to replace and you should retain them for your personal records.

Internet Downloads
Copies of results downloaded from the internet cannot be accepted as proof of qualifications for selection purposes.

Documents in a language other than English
If any of your documents are in a language other than English, you must submit copies of a complete English translation certified by an independent accredited translator as well as a copy of the original document.

Statutory Declaration
If you are unable to obtain a copy of the qualification from the organisation that awarded it, you may make a Statutory Declaration which must be signed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace. The declaration must contain the following information:

  • when you obtained the original qualification
  • name and location of the educational organisation
  • which subjects/topics you studied and what your results were
  • the circumstances which now prevent your access to the records

The Statutory Declaration will not be accepted if it is incomplete (must address the four abovementioned points).

Please note there are significant legal penalties for making false claims in a Statutory Declaration.

Emailing Documents
SATAC will not accept copies of documents via email.

Mailing Documents
You can mail your documents to SATAC, PO Box 235, Rundle Mall, SA 5000.

Delivering Documents
You can deliver your documents to SATAC, Ground Floor 104 Frome Street, Adelaide.

Secondary (Year 11 or Year 12 studies)

Year 11 - SACE Stage 1 or equivalent
We need to know if you have studied Year 11 and which subjects you passed, even if you have continued on to complete year 12.

If you have studied year 11:

  • in SA or NT in 1993 or later, you do not need to send documents (SATAC has electronic access to your results)

  • in SA or NT in 1992 or earlier you do need to supply a copy of your results

  • interstate or overseas you do need to supply a copy of your results

If you need to supply a copy of your Year 11 results, it must include the subjects (with grades/scores) that you passed in the final term of the academic year and also show the date of issue.

Year 12 - SACE completion or equivalent
We need to know if you have successfully completed Year 12 or not, and the names of any subjects you passed. SATAC can obtain an electronic copy of most recent Australian year 12 results.

You need to provide a copy of a certificate of completion showing all subjects and results if:

  • your year 12 was completed overseas

OR

  • your year 12 was a 'non-standard' year 12 such as Steiner School or School of Tomorrow

Tertiary studies
(Degrees, Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas, Associate Diplomas, Post Graduate Studies, Bridging/Foundation Courses)

Studies at an Australian university

SATAC is able to obtain an electronic copy of many university results. However if indicated as part of your application, you must provide a copy of an academic transcript of results which shows all subjects studied.

If the award is complete and this is not clearly stated on the transcript of results, you must also provide a copy of the award parchment or, if you do not have a copy of the award parchment, an official letter from the institution verifying completion.

Cross-institutional study
If you have undertaken any cross-institutional study i.e. studied toward a qualification across two or more universities, you must supply a copy of the transcript for your cross-institutional studies as these results are often not included with those from your ‘home’ institution.

Supplementary examination results
SATAC cannot obtain the results of current year supplementary examinations on your behalf. You will need to provide copies to SATAC, although the results may be too late to affect the outcome of your application.

Studies at TAFE or another Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

(1)   Course already completed

If you have already completed a course, either in SA or interstate, you must supply a copy of the parchment (the certificate given to you at graduation) or an official letter from the course coordinator stating that the award is complete. If it is a Bachelor degree you will also need to supply transcripts of results.

(2)   Studying Certificates I to IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor degree or         Graduate Vocational Diploma and due to complete by 31 December

Are you studying at a TAFE SA campus and due to complete in 2011?
Completed TAFE SA courses may be used to either meet the Minimum Entry Requirements (MER) or increase your competitiveness for your preferences.

If you have not already received a parchment certifying completion of your award, and the award was completed in 2011, SATAC will request this evidence from TAFE SA, provided you take the following steps when completing your application.

  1. Enter the correct campus code from the dropdown list on TAFEWeb.
  2. Enter your TAFE SA student ID number where requested.
  3. Answer 'Yes' to the question ‘Will qualification be complete by 31 December 2011?’.
  4. Contact the course coordinator at the TAFE SA campus at which you are studying by Friday 2 December 2011 and apply to graduate, even if your course finishes after this date.
  5. Ensure your SATAC application is lodged by the appropriate closing date.

Note: If you complete your course late in 2011, you are not likely to be presented with your parchment until 2012. By complying with the above arrangements SATAC can consider your current studies in the assessment of your application.

This is most important - if you do not supply the necessary details to SATAC and/or do not apply to TAFE SA to graduate, SATAC will be unable to obtain the required information from TAFE SA which may jeopardise your chances of selection.

Are you studying at a TAFE campus interstate or another Registered Training Organisation? Are you due to complete in 2011?
If you are studying at TAFE interstate or a non-TAFE Registered Training Organisation and are due to complete your course in 2011, you must supply evidence of completion to SATAC such as a parchment or statement of completion from the organisation at which you are enrolled.

Please be aware that documents received at SATAC after Thursday 15 December are not guaranteed to be considered in the Main January offer round. Dates for other offer rounds can be found here.
