ABOUT THE
UNIVERSITY
Charles Darwin
University is the Northern Territory's
only university, attracting students from across Australia
and from more than 60 countries. Students are attracted to
our smaller class sizes, helpful teaching staff and to the
unique Territory landscape and lifestyle.
CDU offers some of
the most distinctive courses in Australia, ranging from
Indigenous cultural and south-east Asian studies to
tropical, environmental and desert science. Our pharmacy,
law, sports science and humanitarian and community studies courses are sought by students from across the country.
We also offer bachelor degrees in
engineering, nursing and education that offer work
placements so you can gain valuable professional experience
and make industry contacts while you're still studying.
Many CDU courses are now available in
part-time and external mode as well, so you can fit your
studies around your lifestyle.
Our students have a
choice of studying in Vocational Education and
Training (VET),
Higher Education (HE) or a combination of the two. This means you can begin your studies
in a VET course and graduate with a certificate, or apply to go on to
study a HE course and graduate with either a diploma,
advanced diploma, bachelors degree, graduate certificate,
graduate diploma, masters degree, or a doctorate.
We pave the way for
you to achieve your goals and to gain the
qualifications you want. So if you're committed and have a
will to learn, we will help you to succeed in your chosen
path of study.
AUSTRALIAN CENTRE OF
INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGES AND EDUCATION (ACIKE)
CDU and Batchelor Institute of
Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) have collaborated to
provide a unique, culturally safe, learning and teaching
centre that offers an exciting range of undergraduate and
postgraduate courses. The main hub of the partnership is
located on CDU's Casuarina Campus in Darwin, and Alice
Springs (Desert Peoples' Centre).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
students have the option to study part-time, full-time and
externally from anywhere in Australia. The mixed mode
options are available across three delivery sites of
Casuarina, Batchelor and Alice Springs. Whilst the Batchelor
and Alice Springs sites are restricted to an Indigenous
cohort intake, non-Indigenous students are very welcome to
apply to study all courses through the Casuarina campus.
Accommodation is available at each site.
ACIKE has a free enabling course,
Preparation for Tertiary Success (PTS) which is designed to
build confidence in people who may not have studied in a
while or did not receive an ATAR on completion of high
school. This program ensures a smooth transition to
undergraduate study with preparation required to succeed in
future studies. A dedicated Academic Enrichment Program will
be available to all students regardless of their choice of
learning mode or location. This program will assist with
study plans and timely delivery of hands on skills training.
For more information please refer to www.cdu.au/acike.
