Wednesday 20 November 2019
SATAC will hold its main STAT sitting at the Adelaide Showgrounds this Sunday, 24 November.
If you have booked to sit the test this Sunday, here's what you can expect on the day.
What is the STAT?
The STAT is the Special Tertiary Admissions Test. It's a two-hour, 70-question, multiple-choice test held under exam conditions. The questions will test your ability to think critically and make sense of a range of material.
I booked a STAT sitting, what next?
Once you've applied and paid for your sitting SATAC sends you a STAT ‘Authority to sit’ letter by email. The letter contains the date, time and venue of your test sitting, as well as your candidate ID number. If possible, you should print the letter and bring it to the test with you.
Arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start of the test. This allows time to take a seat and complete some administrative tasks. We'll also explain how to fill in the answer sheet, so it's a good idea to get there in time to hear these instructions.
What can I bring with me to the test?
The items you should bring with you to the test are:
- current photo ID that shows your date of birth and a signature
- your STAT ‘Authority to Sit’ letter
- some pencils (pens are not allowed), an eraser
- bottled water
You won't need calculators, dictionaries, rulers or highlighter pens.
If you don’t have photo ID, you will need to provide a statutory declaration. You can complete the declaration before the test and bring it with you on the day. We've included a link to a statutory declaration form in your 'Authority to sit' letter.
How can I prepare for the STAT?
Read through the Candidate Information Book before you sit the test. You can download the book for free from the ACER website. The book also contains some sample questions for you to try.
I haven't applied for the STAT but I need to, can I sit on Sunday?
No, if you haven’t already applied to sit the STAT, or if you have applied but have fees owing, then you won’t be sitting on Sunday. The next test date in Adelaide is Sunday 8 December 2019.
If you already have a SATAC undergraduate application, you can log in via My Application and add the STAT. The available sittings will depend on the time of application.
