Foundation studies, bridging or enabling programs (sometimes referred to as preparation courses) provide students with the skills needed for higher education.
If you have completed one of these programs, you may be eligible to use it to apply for an undergraduate course. To qualify, the program must be recognised by the institution and last at least six months in duration.
There are many different programs available, so it’s not possible to list them all here. Contact us or the relevant institution to confirm whether your program is recognised.
Eligibility rules for using a foundation, bridging, or enabling program can vary. Use Course Search to check whether the courses you are interested in accept these programs for entry.
In most cases, your selection rank is determined by the duration of the program you have completed.
Most Adelaide University courses consider foundation studies, bridging or enabling programs as a pathway.
You can use one of these programs to apply for an undergraduate course. However, if you have studied at higher education level for more than two years in total, your foundation studies cannot be used for entry to Adelaide University.
Adelaide University also offers a First Nations Pathway. Contact the university for further details.
You are eligible to apply for most courses if you have completed a recognised foundation studies, bridging or enabling program of at least six months' duration
You are eligible to apply for most courses if you have completed a recognised foundation studies, bridging, or enabling program, do not hold a completed higher education award, and, if you studied at higher education level in the last two years, have not accumulated more than two full-time years of higher education study in total, even if some of that study was more than two years ago.
If you completed the Flinders Foundation course, your selection rank is based on your level of achievement within the course, as determined by the University.
You are eligible to apply if you have completed a recognised foundation studies, bridging or enabling program of at least six months' duration.
