  • About Flinders University

    Our main campus is located at Bedford Park, just south of Adelaide’s CBD, with fast and easy access via public transport, including a 22-minute railway link from the city to Flinders Station. Our footprint extends across South Australia, Western Victoria and the Northern Territory.

    Flinders City Campus at Festival Plaza places students right in the heart of Adelaide, next to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace. Spanning eight floors and more than 15,000 sqm, it includes formal teaching spaces, collaborative learning areas, a library and an open-plan events space.

    Less than 20 minutes by train from Flinders City Campus, our Tonsley campus is a $120 million hub for innovation. It brings together teaching and research in computer science, artificial intelligence, defence and national security, autonomous vehicles, information technology, engineering and mathematics.

    Flinders has more than 2,500 staff and over 26,000 students, including more than 5,000 international students from countries such as Canada, India and Kenya.   • Admission

    Flinders University offers many courses across a wide range of study areas, with entry requirements varying by course. 

    We recommend seeking advice on the correct entry requirements before submitting your SATAC application.

  • English Language Proficiency

    To ensure you are well prepared for study, domestic applicants must meet Flinders University’s English language proficiency requirements. These can be met by:

    • having English as a first language i.e. you are a citizen of a country where English is recognised by Flinders as the official or main language spoken
    • previous study in English in a recognised English speaking country (e.g. Cert IV or higher from a recognised Australian training ) or completion of Australian secondary school
    • one semester or more of tertiary study, taught in English in an English-speaking country at a recognised
    • an approved English proficiency test score (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Cambridge CAE)
    • completion of an approved English language course with a registered English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) provider
    • meeting the minimum University Special Tertiary Admissions Test () requirement (currently 132/200)
    • holding current registration with an Australian health board relevant to your intended course (e.g. registered nurse, general practitioner, teacher, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker).

    Some courses have higher or specific English requirements. You may be asked to provide additional evidence if required.

  • Course Quotas

    Course quotas are set annually, and many courses receive more applications than places available. Selection to these courses is based on academic merit and, for some programs, additional criteria such as UCAT, interview or audition. In some circumstances, courses may not be offered if application numbers are insufficient.

    Courses with a limited number of places are very competitive. If you receive an for a limited intake course, you must secure your place by the deadline stated in your offer letter. If you do not secure your place by the deadline, it may be offered to another applicant.

  • Concurrent Degrees

    Most Flinders degrees can be studied concurrently, including the Bachelor of Letters, which offers several streams. It is completed part time alongside another bachelor’s degree, typically adding one year of full time equivalent study.

  • Combined Degrees

    Flinders also offers approved combined degree options that enable you to broaden your skills and interests. Most combinations add at least one extra year of full time study, therefore if you combine two three-year full-time equivalent degrees you will likely complete both degrees in four years. You will graduate with two degrees and two certificates, expanding employment opportunities.

    To be considered for entry to an approved combined degree option you must meet the minimum entry requirements and any subject prerequisites for both degrees.

  • Flinders University and TAFE SA

    Flinders and TAFE SA have partnered to deliver several dual offer pathways. Students are guaranteed entry to their Flinders degree upon successful completion of their TAFE SA studies. Many qualifications have established arrangements to maximise credit into university programs. By combining TAFE and university studies, you will strengthen your vocational skills and will receive two separate awards.

    Flinders also partners with TAFE SA to offer Creative Arts degrees in Costume Design, Dance, Fashion, Interior Design and Visual Arts. Students enrol concurrently with both combining practical industry skills with university level study.

  • Admission Pathways

    Flinders University offers several access schemes and pathways to its courses, including:

    • Indigenous Admissions Scheme - for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants
    • Program - considers a school’s recommendation of an applicant’s academic potential
    • Elite Athlete Admissions Scheme - tailored for elite sportspeople
    • uniTEST - offers additional opportunity for current Year 12 students
    • Activating Identities and Futures (AIF) - considers AIF performance alongside Year 12 results. This pathway will continue to recognise prior year results from students that completed Research Project B.
    • Year 12 Grades - based on the best three Year 12 TAS (20 credit) subject grades

  • Deferment

    Most undergraduate courses can be deferred for one academic year. Deferment is automatic for applicants who accept their offer but do not enrol or commence study within a specific timeframe.

  • Credit Transfer

    Credit may be granted for study completed at other recognised including universities, TAFE and registered training organisations. Many TAFE/RTO qualifications already have assessed credit pathways towards some courses.

  • Academic Year

    Most degrees offered by Flinders University commence in semester 1 and/or semester 2. See students.flinders.edu.au/keydates/semester-dates for more information.

  • Scholarships

    Flinders offers a wide range of scholarships and bursaries for high achieving students and those from rural, remote or low socioeconomic backgrounds. Scholarships vary in level of support and some are targeted towards specific fields of study. Additional opportunities support international study or paid work experience, and are available for new, continuing and honours students.

    Library

    Flinders University Library includes a central library and three branches – the Law, Sturt and Gus Fraenkel Medical libraries. With more than one million books and periodicals, extensive study spaces and a wide range of electronic resources, you’ll have access to comprehensive research and learning support.

    Accommodation

    Flinders offers two on campus residential options:

    • University Hall — catered, collegiate style residence for up to 250 students
    • Deirdre Jordan Village — 90 self catered 2, 3 and 5 bedroom units with kitchen and bathroom and common living/dining area for up to 310 residents

    Both are located a few minutes from the heart of the Bedford Park campus and close to public transport, beaches, shopping centres and the Adelaide CBD.

    Applications normally close mid-November of the year prior to entry.

  • Open Day

    Flinders Open Days are a great way to get a taste of our courses and life on campus.

    They will be held at a number of locations across Adelaide:
