TAFE SA is South Australia’s largest vocational education and training (VET) provider. TAFE SA deliver job-focused training across a wide range of industries from entry-level certificates to bachelor degrees, at locations across the state. TAFE SA's focus on practical, hands-on skills and experience ensures students graduate with a competitive edge and with the skills employers value. And with their state-of-the-art facilities, flexible and online study options, TAFE SA offer a range of training options to suit your needs.
The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) Student Outcomes Survey findings in 2025 showed that 91% of TAFE SA graduates were satisfied with the overall quality of their training and 85% of TAFE SA graduates achieved their main reason for doing the training.
TAFE SA also offers a range of higher education degrees, some in partnership with local universities. Plus, they offer pathways leading to professional degrees with the South Australian public universities, through their dual offer programs and credit transfer agreements.
As a dual-sector VET/Higher Education provider, TAFE SA offers unique benefits to higher education students. Their emphasis on applied learning with a focus on employment outcomes makes their graduates highly employable in the eyes of industry.
Students seeking a different higher education experience with smaller classes, more interaction with fellow students and lecturers, and practical learning that leads to strong employment prospects upon graduation will enjoy their experience at TAFE SA.
You might think you have to follow a certain path to study at university, but there is another way. TAFE SA offers a range of dual offer courses in partnership with South Australian public universities. With a dual offer course, you can apply for both the TAFE SA and university qualifications at the same time. This means that once you complete your TAFE SA course successfully, you have guaranteed entry – with credit – into university.
Studying a dual offer course is a great way to set yourself apart from other graduates. You will benefit from TAFE SA's vocational experience and insights, as well as graduating with two qualifications instead of one. Find out more about TAFE SA's Dual Offer Courses at tafesa.edu.au/apply-enrol/uni-pathwayprograms/dual-offer-courses.
TAFE SA offers dual award partnership degrees in Creative Arts with Flinders University, where students gain two qualifications at once. You will study across both TAFE SA and Flinders University, giving you the benefits of both institutions.
Gaining university credit for the related study you have undertaken at TAFE SA can reduce the time and fees usually required to complete a Bachelor degree. To claim credit, you must formally apply to the university in accordance with their processes. Being eligible for credit does not guarantee that you will be offered a place in a university program. Credit will normally be granted after you have been offered a place.
There are clear credit pathways between TAFE SA and university. Visit the TAFE SA website for more information: tafesa.edu.au/apply-enrol/uni-pathway-programs/tafe-to-uni-credit-transfer
To apply for a TAFE SA pathway course you will need to apply through SATAC. Depending on the course, it might be an undergraduate application or a TAFE SA application. TAFE SA applications are submitted separately.
